In our gallery, the Heathcote Valley and its people are the attraction. It's full of interesting photos of our valley from past to present. Take your time and sit down if you like, our gallery never shuts!

You can help too.

We would like to know more about who and what is in our photos, so we can tell everybody more about them.  Take a look and if you can help let us know,we will update the captions with the information you provide.

More photos coming...

We hope to be able to display some wonderful pictures from an old Heathcote Valley family on these pages soon. In the meantime, here's a link to what you can expect.

Spring In Our Heathcote Valley

Residents of the valley will no doubt have noticed the many signs of spring that are appearing. Peter McKie has been out walking and took his camera with him. We hope you enjoy his pictures.

Heathcote's Heritage

Every picture tells a story. If the picture is of Heathcote or the surrounding area, its story is likely to be long and interesting. Edna Brown and Jan Weir have sent us these pictures to help us share with each other the heritage of Heathcote. If you recognise the people in the photographs and are able to add some details about what they show, then please use the Write to Us! links to let us know.

Even better, take a look in your old suitcase, attic or under the bed! Maybe you have some pictures of your own we can add to the gallery. If it is about the Heathcote area and tells the story of our history, then we would really enjoy sharing them.

Our Railway

Residents of the Heathcote Valley will know its close association with the railways. The old passenger station, the railway tunnel, and that narrow bridge over Martindales Road are all well-known features of our valley. But what do we really know about its history?

Ian Mcleod has written an article on the building of the Lyttelton railway tunnel, while Peter McKie has been out taking some pictures of our railway in action. He has been kind enough to send them in to us with some information about what they show.
